Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama has told the United Nations General Assembly that Africa is not seeking charity, but equal partnerships built on mutual respect and shared interests.
Addressing world leaders in New York, President Mahama said Africa must have a greater say in how its natural resources are developed and how the continent benefits from them.
He also warned that Africa would not remain a passive arena for what he described as a new scramble for its resources, amid growing global competition for critical minerals.
His remarks come as African leaders push for a more equitable role for the continent in global trade, investment and decision-making.
