Three people have reportedly died and 39 others sustained injuries after a boat carrying 42 people sank off the coast of Alexandria, Egypt.

‎According to media reports citing Egyptian security and medical sources, rescue teams and emergency personnel were dispatched to the area after authorities received reports of the incident.

The three people who died were reportedly identified as one Egyptian and two Sudanese nationals.

‎The remaining 39 passengers were rescued and taken to Ras El-Tin and Al-Awqaf hospitals in Alexandria, where they received medical treatment.

Authorities are said to have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances that led to the boat sinking.
