Hwediem, Ahafo Region – Seven people have been killed and 21 others critically injured following a serious road accident at Hwediem in the Ahafo Region.
According to reports, a sprinter bus with registration number GT 9931-09 suffered a sudden tyre burst while in motion. The vehicle lost control, somersaulted and crashed into a KIA Picanto with registration number BA 731-20.
The impact of the collision left seven persons dead at the scene, while 21 others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to nearby health facilities for emergency treatment.
The exact number of passengers in both vehicles and the circumstances surrounding the tyre burst are still under investigation by the police. Authorities have called for caution on the roads, especially regarding vehicle maintenance and tyre conditions.
