China’s naval hospital ship, Auspicious Ark (Hull 868), has arrived at Tema Port to provide free medical treatment to the public as part of a seven-day medical mission in Ghana.
The vessel docked at the port at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, and is scheduled to remain in the country until October 30.
During its stay, the ship will offer a range of medical services, including consultations, dental care, eye treatment, laboratory tests and surgical procedures.
The Auspicious Ark is equipped with more than 100 hospital beds and eight operating theatres, enabling it to provide treatment for patients requiring various levels of medical care.
The visit forms part of China’s Mission Harmony 2026, an initiative aimed at delivering medical assistance to African countries and strengthening healthcare cooperation.
Ghanaians seeking free medical treatment have been advised to visit designated screening centres at the Eastern Naval Command in Tema. Patients will undergo assessment and receive referrals for appropriate treatment aboard the vessel.
The mission is expected to provide access to specialised medical services for members of the public during the ship’s seven-day stay in Ghana.
