Samuel Sey, a 39-year-old Ghanaian-born conservative Christian blogger known for defending US President Donald Trump’s mass deportation policies, has been arrested and detained by US immigration authorities in Ohio.
Sey was booked into the Butler County Jail, north of Cincinnati, shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 21 October 2026. According to reports by The Roys Report and other US media outlets, jail records showed he remained in custody as of Friday, 23 October, with his status listed as “Hold for ICE.”
No criminal charges were listed against him in the publicly available booking records, and the circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unclear.
Born in Ghana, Sey relocated to Canada in the 1990s. He had previously disclosed that he did not hold permanent residency status in the United States and was not authorised to work in the country. Despite this, he continued to write for several conservative Christian and political platforms, including The Daily Wire, The Blaze, Christian Post and Turning Point USA.
Sey has become known for his commentary on Christianity, race, immigration and American politics. In one of his articles defending Trump’s deportation policies, he argued that deporting undocumented immigrants was consistent with Christian teachings.
