A 23-year-old Ghanaian-American woman, Alexis Zina Walls, was shot dead by her husband, Brandon Michael Dickerson, in Bryan, Texas, in February 2025.
Dickerson pleaded guilty to murder in February 2026 and was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

According to prosecutors, Dickerson shot Walls 15 times inside their home. He later told investigators that he believed his wife was cheating on him.
The couple’s 18-month-old son was inside the house when the shooting occurred but was not injured.
Dickerson called 911 after the shooting and reported that he had shot his wife.
Walls was born on 9 October 2001. Her family described her as a loving mother, daughter and friend.
Following Dickerson’s guilty plea, Judge Kyle Hawthorne sentenced him to 50 years in prison, which prosecutors said was the maximum sentence available under the plea agreement.
Walls’ parents are raising the couple’s young son following her death.
