Ghanaian gospel musician Bernice Offei has died at the age of 63, Citi Newsroom reported on Saturday, 12 September 2026, citing its sources. The station said she died on Saturday morning. The cause of death has not been confirmed, and a family statement had not been issued at the time of that report.
Her death comes ten days after a public search. She was last seen in Accra on 1 September 2026, reported missing the next day, and found safe within about 24 hours.
Offei was a veteran of Ghana’s gospel scene, known for songs including Hold On and Life Is So Short. She recorded six studio albums. The sixth, Life (2007), won her Best Female Vocal Performance and Songwriter of the Year at the 2009 Ghana Music Awards.
She also worked as a banker with Standard Chartered Bank, held an MPhil in Crop Science from the University of Ghana, and an MSc in Information Technology from the United Kingdom.
She was married to Prof. Samuel Kwame Offei and was a mother of two.
Funeral arrangements and an official family confirmation were not yet public when Citi published its report.
