Ghanaian pharmacist, artiste manager and building contractor Shadrack Agyei Owusu, a former manager of musician Black Sherif, has sued the Ghana Police Service and the Attorney General over what he describes as an unlawful and humiliating arrest\. Owusu is seeking GH¢5 million in compensation for alleged violations of his fundamental human rights, as well as US$80,000 in special damages\. He claims the circulation of videos of his arrest led to the loss of a construction contract\. The case was filed at the Human Rights Division of the High Court in Accra under suit number HR/0202/2026\. According to court documents, four armed police officers arrived at his residence at about 06:00 on 11 June 2026 and arrested him\. Owusu claims he asked to be shown a warrant and to be told the reason for his arrest, but says neither was provided at the time\. He further alleges that the officers searched his residence and took him to the National Police Headquarters\. He says he was handcuffed and escorted from his home while wearing only boxer shorts after officers allegedly refused his request for time to dress\. Owusu says he was later told that a man identified as Sarhene Raphael had reported him over disputes involving a Range Rover, a house and other commercial dealings\. He denies the allegations and maintains that the matters were contractual and financial disputes\. The police and Attorney General are yet to respond to the claims in court\.
