Residents of Kasoa Akweley Peace Town were left shocked on Sunday, October 4, 2026, after the body of a young woman believed to be in her 20s was discovered hanging from a mango tree in the community.
The woman was reportedly found wearing only a red T-shirt, with no shorts or trousers, at the time her body was discovered.
According to residents, the deceased may have been among a group of people who had travelled to the area for a one-week celebration.
Some residents have also raised suspicions that the woman could have been sexually assaulted before her body was allegedly hanged from the tree in an attempt to make the incident appear to be a suicide. The claim, however, has not been independently verified.
The police have since taken the body to the mortuary as investigations continue to determine the cause of death and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
