The Ghana Police Service has arrested three people in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on 22 September 2026.
In a press release dated 28 September 2026, the Public Affairs Directorate named the suspects as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai. Police said they were arrested after investigations by the Missing Persons Unit.
According to preliminary findings, Kyere left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on 19 September in a Honda Civic and did not return. Investigators said he was lured to Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.
Police said both Tefe and Adams later confessed to their involvement. Tefe allegedly attacked the victim during a confrontation and struck him with a metallic object, causing injuries. Kyere was then moved to another room, left unattended, and later died.
Investigators said the body was conveyed in a Kia Morning on 20 September to a location near the motorway, dumped in a bush and set ablaze. A partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on 21 September. Kyere’s biological mother and an uncle identified the remains at the Police Hospital morgue on 24 September.
Police also recovered the victim’s iPhone 12, which Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100. The buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for dishonestly receiving the phone.
Further inquiries led to the arrest of Josiah Obodai in connection with disposal of the body. His father’s Kia Morning, believed to have been used to transport the remains, has been impounded.
The three suspects are in police custody and will be put before court as investigations continue into whether others were involved.
