Nigerian tech recruiter charged in Canada human trafficking case

A 33-year-old Nigerian man living in Canada has been charged in connection with an alleged human trafficking investigation in Hamilton, Ontario.
Ebunoluwa Tomiwa, also known as Boon and of Belleville, turned himself in to Hamilton Police hours after he was declared wanted. Police said he would appear in court for a bail hearing.

He has been charged with trafficking in persons, procuring for sexual services, material benefit from trafficking in persons, and withholding documents.

Mr Tomiwa describes himself on LinkedIn as a technology recruiter. Canadian media have also reported that he previously played basketball at Loyalist College in Belleville.

Investigators say they believe there may be additional victims and have asked anyone with information, or who believes they may have been affected, to contact the Hamilton Police Human Trafficking Unit. He has been charged and has not been convicted.
