The Ghana Police Service has offered a GH¢100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, the principal suspect in the shooting deaths of George Atubiga, 57, and his niece Irene Atubiga, 47.
The two were shot dead at their residence at NTHC Estate in Sakumono, Greater Accra, on Friday, 30 October 2026. Police say Osei Anto had gone to the house with a woman, Beatrice Mumuni, 47, earlier that morning.
According to a police statement, preliminary investigations indicate the incident may have stemmed from a financial dispute. George Atubiga is alleged to have borrowed GH¢500,000 from Osei Anto and failed to repay the amount. A misunderstanding reportedly arose when the suspect demanded repayment, after which he is said to have shot both victims.
Officers from the Sakumono District Police Command found the pair lying in a pool of blood. They were rushed to hospital, where a medical officer pronounced them dead. Their bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
Beatrice Mumuni has been arrested. Police say she allegedly led Osei Anto to the residence. Osei Anto remains at large and has been declared wanted.
Anyone with credible information is urged to contact the nearest police station or call the emergency lines 191 or 18555.
