Asante Akyem North Member of Parliament Ohene Kwame Frimpong, popularly known as OK Frimpong, is scheduled to appear before a Dutch court for an extradition hearing on November 18, 2026.
The Ghanaian lawmaker has been in custody in Amsterdam since his arrest at Schiphol Airport on May 10, 2026, shortly after arriving from Ghana. He is being held under a United States extradition request linked to allegations of romance scams and money laundering. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
Majority Chief Whip and South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor confirmed the hearing date in a recent interview. He also disclosed that two bail applications filed on Frimpong’s behalf — one substantive and one on appeal — have both been rejected by Dutch authorities.
“The extradition hearing will take place on the 18th of November 2026. He is still in custody. He’s still in the hands of the Dutch government in Amsterdam,” Dafeamekpor stated.
Parliament has indicated it is preparing for the substantive hearing and plans to issue a formal statement on the MP’s status. Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been providing consular support to Frimpong through the country’s mission in The Hague since his detention.
