Africa’s richest man and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has praised President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, saying the President’s approach has helped restore investor confidence and contributed to Ghana’s economic turnaround.

Speaking at the Accra Reset in New York on Monday, September 21, 2026, on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Dangote said Mahama had taken the right decisions and succeeded in rebuilding trust in Ghana’s economy.

“He didn’t do any magic. He’s not a magician, but he did the right things, and people really have a lot of trust in him. And that’s why Ghana’s economy turned around,” Dangote said.

He stressed that Ghana’s experience demonstrates the importance of confidence in leadership and its relationship with investment, concluding: “This has actually shown that money follows trust.”

Dangote’s remarks offer a strong endorsement of the role he believes President Mahama’s leadership has played in restoring confidence in Ghana’s economy.
