Botswana’s President, Duma Gideon Boko, has said eradicating poverty is at the centre of his administration’s mandate, stressing that improving the living conditions of citizens is fundamental to the country’s development.
President Boko made the remarks during a meet-and-greet with Batswana living in the United States, where he outlined his vision for rebuilding Botswana’s economy and raising the standard of living.

He described the fight against poverty as “human rights in practice,” linking economic well-being to the broader responsibility of government to improve the lives of its citizens.
With Botswana having a population of roughly 2.3 million people according to the country’s latest official census figure, President Boko said the nation must rebuild and strengthen its economy while creating conditions that can improve living standards.
