The United States has opposed a United Nations resolution supporting a world map that more accurately reflects Africa’s true size.

The U.S. described the resolution as promoting an “ideological agenda” and argued that it distracts from more pressing global issues, including international peace, prosperity and cooperation.

The resolution was adopted despite U.S. opposition, highlighting growing calls for maps that provide a more accurate representation of Africa’s size.
