Ghanaian chef and food creator Abena Amoakoaa Sintim-Aboagye, popularly known as Chef Abbys, has spoken about her vision for African cuisine during an appearance on BBC Radio London.
Chef Abbys, who is currently in the UK, was invited to BBC Radio London’s London Nightlife programme with Jacqueline Shepherd, where she discussed her culinary journey, African cuisine and her work promoting Ghanaian food to international audiences.
Reflecting on the opportunity, Chef Abbys described it as an honour to speak about her vision as an African food creator and thanked the Mayor of London’s team for the invitation.
Her BBC appearance comes ahead of her participation in Black On The Square 2026, a major celebration of Black culture taking place at Trafalgar Square in London on Saturday, 5 September.
Chef Abbys is set to headline a live culinary showcase at the event, where she will present Ghanaian cuisine and share stories about African food and culture with an international audience.
Her London visit builds on her growing international profile as a culinary creator and advocate for African food. She has previously worked with London Mayor Sadiq Khan, including a culinary collaboration during his visit to Ghana, where they prepared a Ghanaian take on the British fish and chips.
Chef Abbys has also been recognised internationally for her work. She was included among TikTok’s 2026 Global Discover List, following her growing influence in African food storytelling and digital content creation.
Through her UK engagements, Chef Abbys continues to position Ghanaian and African cuisine as a vehicle for cultural exchange, tourism and storytelling, while using international platforms to introduce wider audiences to the continent’s food heritage.
