Ghanaian highlife singer Pat Thomas’s 1984 track Gye Wani, recorded with the late guitarist Ebo Taylor, will feature on Grand Theft Auto VI.

Rockstar Games included the song on AfroBank FM, one of six in-game radio stations previewed ahead of the game’s release. The station is described as a mix of African classics, lesser-known recordings and newer styles such as amapiano and 3-step.

Also listed on AfroBank FM are Asake’s Joha and DJ Lag and Robot Boii’s Shay’sana, featuring Kamo Mphela. The station’s hosts, Burna and Palmsy, are voiced by Burna Boy and Palms Trax.

Other stations in the preview include Cocoteo FM for Latin music, hosted by characters voiced by Bad Bunny and RaiNao, and Flash FM, which carries tracks by Charli xcx, MGMT, and Zara Larsson with PinkPantheress.

Gye Wani comes from the 1984 album Pat Thomas and Ebo Taylor. Thomas, often called the Golden Voice of Africa, turned 80 in August. Taylor, a leading figure in Ghanaian highlife and Afro-funk who produced and arranged much of Thomas’s early work, died in February at the age of 90.

Grand Theft Auto VI is due out on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
