NDLEA operatives have seized more than 1.3 million opioid pills and about 6,000kg of cannabis, valued at over ₦3.4 billion (about $2.56 million at roughly ₦1,330 to $1). The operations covered Lagos, Edo, Niger, Delta, Abuja, Gombe, Imo and Ondo.
The biggest haul was 1,200 parcels of Canadian Loud weighing 603.75kg, valued at ₦1.811 billion (about $1.36 million), found at Tin-Can Island Port, Lagos, hidden in two Toyota Sienna vehicles inside a container from Montreal.
In Delta, Innocent Ekpe, 49, was arrested on the Benin-Onitsha Expressway with 292.48kg of skunk. He allegedly posed as DSP Godwin Emeka using a forged police ID. An accomplice, Nduka Joseph, 39, was also arrested.
In Edo, mechanic Matthew Ossai, 45, was arrested at his Agbor Road workshop in Benin City, where officers recovered 48kg of Loud and 152g of methamphetamine.
Other seizures included over 1.1 million tramadol pills on the Abaji-Abuja highway, 48,900 tramadol pills in Surulere, 154,480 capsules in Gombe, 43.85kg of skunk in Imo, and the destruction of 5,000kg of cannabis on a farm in Ondo. Three young suspects were also arrested in Niger State with two locally made AK-47 rifles, a pistol and ammunition.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) commended the officers and urged them to sustain intelligence-led operations.
