A 45-year-old Ghanaian national living in the United Kingdom has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty of rape.

Evans Nyarko, a resident of Fishermead in Milton Keynes, was jailed at Aylesbury Crown Court following a unanimous guilty verdict by a jury. He was convicted of one count of rape of a woman aged over 16 after a six-day trial.

According to Thames Valley Police, the attack took place shortly after midnight on 12 August 2024. Nyarko offered to help the victim get home after a night out in the Conniburrow area of Milton Keynes. He said he would arrange a taxi and then accompanied her to her address.

Once they arrived, the woman began feeling unwell and was struggling to walk. Nyarko helped her into the property before following her into a downstairs toilet and raping her.

The incident was reported to police in 2024. Nyarko was arrested and charged on 28 August 2024.
He was later found guilty and sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment.
