Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa was briefly left in darkness during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Tuesday after a power outage plunged the New Parliament Building into darkness.
Despite the blackout, which caused confusion and murmurs of sabotage among lawmakers, Mnangagwa remained composed and continued reading his speech by torchlight for nearly 10 minutes. His calm reaction drew applause from ZANU PF legislators.
Power was restored shortly after the president concluded his address, but the incident has since sparked public debate about infrastructure reliability and preparedness for national events.
