Two Pennsylvania state troopers were shot while responding to a call in Susquehanna County, about 40 miles north of Scranton, on Thursday. Both officers were rushed to local hospitals for treatment.
Governor Josh Shapiro confirmed the incident during a public event outside Philadelphia, saying, “Lori and I are praying for those troopers.” He later announced he would be heading to the hospital to visit the injured officers.
The Pennsylvania State Police described the situation as an “active scene” and noted that details about the suspect would be released later.
U.S. Senator Dave McCormick also stated that he is closely monitoring the situation as more information becomes available.
Authorities have yet to provide updates on the condition of the troopers or the identity of the shooter.
