Two Men Jailed for Possession of Tramadol Worth GH¢312,000 in Nalerigu

The Nalerigu Circuit Court has sentenced Mumuni Iddrisu and Alhassan Braimah to 10 years’ imprisonment each after they pleaded guilty to conspiracy and possession of restricted drugs without lawful authority.

In a statement dated September 27, 2025, the North East Regional Police Command said the men were arrested with 100 boxes of tramadol and over 4,500 concealed packs hidden in 25 yellow gallons — all valued at approximately GH¢312,000.

They appeared before Justice Francis Asobayire on September 26, where the court also fined each convict 5,000 penalty units (equivalent to GH¢60,000). In default of payment, they will serve an additional 10 years in prison.

Four other suspects were discharged for lack of evidence.
