Shatta Wale Reveals How He Signed His First Music Contract with a Japanese Company Without a Lawyer

Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale recently shared insights about his early music career during a Twitter Space with Jocelyn Dumas titled “The Business Behind the Talent.”

The “King of Dancehall” revealed that his first music contract was with a Japanese company called Westwide Records. Shockingly, he signed a 5-year deal without the guidance of a lawyer, relying solely on his instincts at the time.

Shatta Wale’s story highlights the importance of understanding the business side of music, even for talented artists, and serves as a lesson for aspiring musicians to approach contracts carefully.
