A disturbing case of domestic violence has been reported in Wonkayaw, a community within Dambai township of the Krachi East Municipality, where a man allegedly bit off his wife’s ear during a violent altercation.
The victim, 46-year-old Madam Cecilia Fordjour, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the incident occurred after she had prepared food for the family. Her husband, Emmanuel Addai, had just returned from a funeral and allegedly demanded that she leave the house without any provocation.
As she was preparing to serve him food, a confrontation ensued, during which her husband allegedly attacked her physically and bit off her ear.
The severed ear was taken to KORAN Clinic, a private health facility, but due to a delay in seeking treatment, medical personnel confirmed that reattachment was no longer possible.
The incident has been officially reported to the Krachi East Police Command. According to ASP Al-hassan Abdu-Rzak, Divisional Crime Officer at the Dambai Command, both parties have lodged complaints, with the husband also claiming he was assaulted. Medical forms were issued to both for examination.
