Jacklyn Gise Bezos, the mother of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has died at the age of 78 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Jeff shared the news via Instagram, revealing that she passed peacefully at her home in Miami, surrounded by family.
Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in New Mexico, Jacklyn became a mother at 17 and overcame significant personal and financial challenges. She later married Cuban immigrant Miguel “Mike” Bezos, with whom she raised a close-knit family.
In 1995, Jacklyn and Mike invested $245,573 in Jeff’s new e-commerce venture, Amazon — an investment that eventually grew into billions. Her estimated net worth was around $30 billion.
Beyond business, Jacklyn was known for her resilience, devotion to family, and philanthropic work through the Bezos Family Foundation, which focused on education and health. Her legacy is one of strength, vision, and generosity.
