First Lady of Nigeria Asks Citizens to Send Money for A Special Project Instead of Birthday Gifts

Nigeria’s First Lady has stirred mixed reactions after asking citizens to send money instead of birthday gifts, directing well-wishers to contribute funds to a Zenith Bank PLC account for the completion of the National Library project.

The initiative, she said, is close to her heart and is being coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education. She encouraged those planning to send birthday cards, cakes, or presents to redirect their generosity to the national cause.

While some praised the move as patriotic and forward-thinking, others on social media questioned the transparency and timing of the appeal.

The First Lady maintains that the funds will be used solely for educational development and national progress.
