Former Superman actor Dean Cain has announced plans to join U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as an honorary officer. Known for playing Clark Kent in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993–1997), Cain is already a sworn deputy sheriff and reserve police officer.
In an interview on Fox News, Cain revealed his intention to support ICE’s recruitment drive, following the release of a video encouraging Americans to join the agency. “People have to step up. I’m stepping up,” Cain said, adding that he hopes former officers and agents will follow his lead.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed Cain will be sworn in as an “honorary ICE Officer” soon. DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin praised Cain’s involvement, saying, “Superman is encouraging Americans to become real-life superheroes.”
ICE recently launched a major recruitment campaign, aiming to hire 10,000 new personnel to double its current force. Positions range from deportation officers to attorneys and criminal investigators. The agency is offering up to $50,000 in bonuses and student loan assistance to attract candidates.
The recruitment drive is part of President Trump’s pledge to ramp up deportations to one million per year, which has sparked protests and legal challenges across the U.S.
Despite controversy, interest is high—over 80,000 applications have been received. DHS has even removed age limits to expand the applicant pool. Recruitment posters echoing WWII-era designs bear slogans like “America Needs You” and “Defend the Homeland,” featuring figures like Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Cain’s involvement adds celebrity momentum to ICE’s aggressive expansion campaign—and marks a unique crossover from screen hero to symbolic law enforcement figure.
