William Baah, the Denkyira Obuasi Assemblyman who was previously sentenced to life imprisonment for allegedly assisting in the lynching of Major Mahama, has been acquitted and discharged by the court. Baah had been standing trial alongside 14 others accused in connection with the death of the military officer.
During the trial, the court, presided over by Justice Mariama Owusu, had ordered Vodafone to provide records of Baah’s telephone calls on May 29 and 30, 2017, to help with the investigation. Baah’s acquittal marks a significant development in a case that had captured national attention, nearly eight years after the tragic incident.
