Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has announced a bold plan to position the Dangote Group as the world’s largest fertiliser producer within the next three years. Speaking at the Imo Economic Summit on Thursday, the industrialist revealed that the company is significantly scaling up investment in fertiliser production.
Dangote said the group aims to boost urea output from its current 3 million tonnes to an impressive 12 million tonnes by 2028. This expansion, he noted, aligns with the company’s broader strategy to strengthen global food security and support agricultural growth across Africa.
“We are investors and I can tell you in the next three years, the programme that we have in the group—we’re investing heavily in fertiliser,” he said.
If successful, this move would not only cement Nigeria’s position as a major player in global fertiliser markets but also contribute to increased agricultural productivity across the continent and beyond.
