Ride-hailing company Uber has ended its operations in Nigeria and Uganda after 12 and 10 years respectively, following a review of its business across Africa. The company said it will discontinue its ride-hailing services in the two countries as part of efforts to simplify its operations and focus on key markets. Uber continues to operate in several African countries, including Ghana, Kenya, Egypt and South Africa. The exits come as Uber undertakes a major global restructuring that includes about 3,300 job cuts, representing roughly 10% of its workforce. The company is also increasing its focus on areas such as autonomous vehicles.
