A Nigerian property developer wanted by the UK’s National Crime Agency has been arrested at Dublin Airport.
Edwin Omokhuale, 39, was detained by officers from An Garda Síochána on Wednesday as he prepared to board a flight to Paris. Irish police acted on a warrant issued in the UK.
He faces money laundering charges linked to an alleged fraud against an Australian mining company in early 2023. The sum involved is about $23m (€19.7m).
Investigators say suspects based in the UK are believed to have deceived company employees into sending money to accounts they controlled. Omokhuale was living in the UK at the time of the alleged offence.
He is due to appear in court in Dublin on Thursday as extradition proceedings to return him to the UK begin.
