Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has dismissed Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui and appointed Industry Minister Sifi Ghrieb as acting head of government, according to state media on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
No official reason was given for Larbaoui’s removal. A former diplomat, he had served as prime minister since 2023. Algeria, a key gas supplier to Europe, has maintained relative political stability in recent years.
