President John Dramani Mahama joined fellow West African leaders in Monrovia to commemorate Liberia’s 178th Independence Anniversary on July 26, 2025.
The celebration, held under the theme “Consolidating National Unity for Development,” brought together dignitaries, including heads of state, diplomats, and civil society leaders. President Mahama’s presence underscores Ghana’s continued commitment to regional solidarity, peace, and democratic cooperation in West Africa.
In his remarks, President Mahama praised Liberia’s resilience and democratic progress, urging continued investment in peace, unity, and national development.
Liberia, the first independent republic in Africa, declared its independence on July 26, 1847. The annual celebration remains a powerful symbol of national pride and progress.
President Mahama’s attendance reflects Ghana’s strong diplomatic ties with Liberia and support for stable governance across the subregion.
