Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traore has become the first leader to receive the new biometric identity card introduced by the Sahel Alliance (AES), which includes Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. Approved in December 2024, the card aims to make travel within the region easier, strengthen security, and boost trade.
