The Ministry of Health has announced progress in the payment of salaries for newly recruited nurses, confirming that over 6,000 nurses have now received their salaries, completing payments for the full cohort of 13,500 recruits nationwide. The Ministry says outstanding administrative issues are being resolved.
In an update on medical officer postings, the Ministry commended those who have already reported to their assigned duty stations and urged the remaining officers to do so by Friday, 12th December 2025. It emphasized that the postings are not punitive but are part of efforts to ensure a fair distribution of health professionals, especially in underserved communities.
Families of the newly posted officers are encouraged to support them in settling into their new locations. The Ministry also called on MMDCEs to assist by providing key incentives—such as accommodation and transport support—to help attract and retain medical personnel.
Reaffirming its stance, the Ministry stated that no changes will be made to the recent postings and assured its commitment to working with stakeholders to strengthen incentives for staff in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
