Billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote has launched a $250 million cement plant in Attingué, Côte d’Ivoire — his largest facility outside Nigeria. With an annual capacity of 3 million tons, the plant is set to significantly reduce the country’s dependence on cement imports while creating up to 3,000 jobs.
The plant will begin operations in late 2025, boosting infrastructure development and local economic growth. It enters a competitive market currently dominated by Lafarge Holcim, Cim Ivoire, and Cimaf, but Dangote is banking on superior quality and robust distribution networks to capture market share.
The project marks a major step forward in the expansion of West Africa’s cement industry.
