Chief Nii Ashong Kojo III Refutes Illegal Destoolment Claims, Reaffirms His Lawful Authority as Chief of Amrahia Under Act 759

Chief Nii Ashong Kojo III, the lawfully enstooled Chief of Amrahia since 1989, has publicly rejected claims of his destoolment, calling them false, illegal, and without any customary or legal basis.

In a strongly worded statement, the Chief reaffirmed his position as the legitimate Head of the Nii Amoah Okromansah Royal Family and warned against the actions of individuals—Ashirif Mensah, William Ashirifi Ashong, and John Ashirifi Gogo—who he accuses of unlawfully presenting themselves as traditional leaders.

Citing Ghana’s Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (Act 759), Nii Ashong Kojo III clarified that no valid destoolment petition, hearing, or ruling has been initiated or concluded against him. He remains officially recognized by the National House of Chiefs, with his legitimacy upheld by a 2006 court judgment.

He emphasized that any so-called destoolment outside the due legal and customary processes is unconstitutional, uncustomary, and void ab initio (void from the beginning). The Chief urged authorities to take action against the impersonators and called for the protection of Amrahia’s chieftaincy institution and heritage.
