Suggestions that the Bank of Ghana and GoldBod are at odds after the governor left the GoldBod board are unfounded, officials say.
The governor nominated Second Deputy Governor Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu to represent him on the board from 11 May 2026. The appointment was made because of his official commitments, not because of any disagreement or alleged misconduct at GoldBod.
The GoldBod Act, 2025 (Act 1140) allows the governor to sit on the board or to nominate a representative not below the rank of director. Mrs Asante-Asiedu has been authorised to attend meetings, take part in discussions and exercise the governor’s rights and responsibilities.
Officials say the arrangement is provided for in law and does not indicate a breakdown in relations between the two institutions.
