Alan Kyerematen Asks Special Prosecutor to Investigate How Bawumia Got Money to Buy 300 Pickups for NPP

Independent presidential candidate Alan Kyerematen, popularly known as Alan Cash, has officially petitioned the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over the alleged purchase of 300 brand-new pickup vehicles for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Kyerematen, the scale of the acquisition raises serious questions about the source of funding, especially in the context of Ghana’s current economic challenges. He insists that the public deserves full transparency on how such a massive expenditure was financed, particularly by a sitting Vice President seeking the presidency.

The petition calls for the OSP to probe whether public funds were involved, and to ensure that campaign financing adheres strictly to the law. The move adds fuel to an already heated political season, with accountability and corruption emerging as key campaign issues ahead of the 2024 general elections.

As of now, there has been no official response from Dr. Bawumia or the OSP regarding the petition.
