James Craig, a 47-year-old Colorado dentist, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of his wife, Angela Craig.
Prosecutors said Craig poisoned Angela’s protein shakes with arsenic and later administered a fatal dose of cyanide while she was hospitalized in March 2023. He was having an affair at the time and wanted out of the marriage, but sought to avoid the financial consequences of a divorce.
Craig’s internet history revealed searches like “how many grams of arsenic will kill a human,” and cyanide was delivered to his dental office days before Angela collapsed. Security footage also showed him entering her hospital room with a syringe.
He was convicted of first-degree murder and solicitation to commit murder after attempting to hire a fellow inmate to kill a detective on the case. He was sentenced to life plus 33 years.
“This wasn’t a crime of passion,” said District Attorney Amy Padden. “It was calculated and deliberate.”
One of the couple’s six children, Miriam Meservy, told the court: “He was supposed to be my hero. Instead, he’ll forever be the villain in my book.”
