The United States has officially rescinded the 15% tariffs previously imposed on Ghana’s cocoa and several major agricultural products. Effective November 13, 2025, the tariff reversal covers cocoa as well as cashew, avocado, mango, banana, pineapple, coconut, ginger, and assorted peppers.
With Ghana exporting an estimated 78,000 metric tons of cocoa to the U.S. annually—and current spot prices around $5,300 per metric ton—the policy shift is projected to generate roughly US$60 million (GHS 667 million) in additional annual revenue for Ghana.
The update was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on X, marking a significant boost for Ghana’s export economy and strengthening trade relations with the world’s leading importer of chocolate and cocoa products.
