Trump Admin Revokes Harvard’s Ability to Enroll International Students

In a dramatic move, the Trump administration has revoked Harvard University’s ability to enroll international students, citing concerns over campus safety and alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the decision on Thursday, stating that Harvard has failed to provide a secure environment for its students, particularly Jewish students, and accusing the university of collaborating with the CCP.

The DHS alleges that Harvard has allowed “anti-American, pro-terrorist agitators” to assault Jewish students on campus, creating an unsafe atmosphere. Additionally, the agency claims that Harvard has coordinated with the CCP, hosting and training members of a Chinese paramilitary group as recently as 2024. These actions, according to the DHS, have led to the revocation of Harvard’s ability to enroll foreign students.

This decision has significant implications for Harvard’s international student population, which comprises nearly 6,800 students from over 100 countries, representing more than a quarter of the university’s total student body. The DHS has stated that these students must either transfer to other schools or face losing their legal status in the United States. The move marks a significant escalation in the Trump administration’s ongoing battle with Harvard, raising questions about academic freedom, campus safety, and international relations.
