A commercial minibus driver, commonly known as a “trotro” driver, has been arrested after crashing into a wall near the private residence of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in Nima, Accra.
The incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, July 17, 2025, drawing the attention of nearby residents and on-duty security personnel assigned to the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a wall adjacent to the former president’s home. While the exact cause of the crash remains unknown, authorities are investigating whether it was due to mechanical failure, excessive speed, or driver error.
The collision caused significant structural damage to the wall, though no injuries were immediately reported.
Security personnel quickly secured the scene, and the driver was taken into custody by the police for further questioning. The minibus involved was later towed from the area.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from former President Akufo-Addo’s office regarding the incident.
The police are expected to release more details following the outcome of their preliminary investigations.
