The newly launched Tema-Mpakadan passenger train experienced a major setback on its first day of public operations after breaking down en route to Afienya. The incident, which left passengers trapped on board for close to an hour, occurred just hours after the service was officially opened to the public.
Many commuters expressed frustration over the unexpected delay, raising early concerns about the reliability and preparedness of the new railway service. Authorities are yet to comment on the cause of the breakdown or measures to prevent future incidents.
The Tema-Mpakadan line is part of Ghana’s broader effort to revamp its railway sector and improve transportation across regions.
