Authorities in Tennessee have arrested Austin Robert Drummond, 28, following a weeklong manhunt for the man accused of killing four family members and abandoning a baby in front of a stranger’s home.
Drummond was captured in a wooded area near Jackson, Tennessee, after residents were urged to shelter in place as law enforcement closed in. He is accused of killing the baby’s parents, grandmother, and teenage uncle, before leaving the infant in a car seat outside a home in Tigrett on July 29.
The victims were identified as James M. Wilson (21), Adrianna Williams (20), Cortney Rose (38), and Braydon Williams (15). Authorities say the killings were targeted, and Drummond had a relationship with the family, though no motive has been publicly disclosed.
Drummond faces multiple charges, including four counts of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and firearm offenses. He was released from prison in 2024 after serving 13 years for armed robbery. A 2020 letter from a district attorney had warned against his early release, citing threats and misconduct in prison.
Three other individuals have also been arrested for allegedly assisting Drummond after the killings. The baby is reported to be safe and in protective care.
Jackson Police Chief Thom Corley called the arrest “an important step in restoring safety to our community.”
