Doha, Qatar – Qatar Airways has successfully completed the installation of SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet across its entire fleet of Boeing 777 aircraft, delivering on its promise to provide free, high-speed Wi-Fi to all passengers—faster than most home internet connections.
Originally planned as a two-year project, the rollout was completed in just nine months, marking a significant acceleration of nearly 50% faster than the initial schedule. The achievement highlights Qatar Airways’ commitment to setting new standards in passenger experience and in-flight connectivity.
“This milestone reflects our dedication to adopting cutting-edge technology and delivering exceptional service,” said a Qatar Airways spokesperson. “Passengers on our 777 aircraft can now stay connected at unprecedented speeds—completely free of charge.”
Next Up: A350s and 787s
Following the successful 777 installations, work is already underway to equip the airline’s Airbus A350 fleet with Starlink connectivity. The Boeing 787 Dreamliners will follow shortly, as Qatar Airways moves toward offering Starlink across its full long-haul fleet.
Qatar Airways is one of the first major global airlines to adopt Starlink, the low-Earth orbit satellite network developed by SpaceX. Starlink enables high-speed, low-latency internet even at cruising altitudes, revolutionizing the in-flight connectivity landscape.
Passengers can now enjoy seamless streaming, browsing, and communication throughout their flight, without interruptions or login hassles.
Revolutionizing the Sky
This strategic partnership with SpaceX puts Qatar Airways at the forefront of aviation technology, aligning with its reputation for innovation and excellence in service. With Starlink, the airline continues to raise the bar for global travel connectivity.
