Shock and Awe: Executioner Bites Live Fowl Head at Funeral

Ejisu, Ashanti Region – The one-week funeral observation for the late mother of Kumawood actor Komfo Kolege took a dramatic and chilling turn, leaving mourners in a state of shock. What began as a solemn occasion in Ejisu quickly became a spectacle of traditional rites, highlighted by a controversial act that has since gone viral.

In a scene that stunned onlookers, a traditional executioner, locally known as an “abrafo,” performed a ritual that involved biting off the head of a live fowl. The executioner, dressed in black attire with machetes tucked into his garment and face painted black, stood before a row of mourners. In a swift, single motion, he severed the fowl’s head, an act that was captured in a short video shared widely online.

The video shows fear-stricken mourners watching the spectacle in disbelief. The unexpected and graphic nature of the ritual has sparked widespread discussion and debate. While some view it as a deeply rooted cultural tradition, others have expressed concern and shock at the display. The event underscores the complex interplay between traditional practices and modern sensibilities, leaving many to reflect on the boundaries of cultural expression in contemporary society.
