Shatta Wale Could Go to Jail for Possessing Stolen Car, Warns Legal Expert

Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale may face the same legal consequences as the person accused of fraud linked to a Lamborghini Urus, according to legal expert Kwadwo Ofori Dankwah.

Shatta Wale was recently detained by Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) amid an ongoing investigation into the vehicle, believed to have been purchased with fraudulently obtained money.

Lawyer Kwadwo Ofori Dankwah warned that under Ghana’s Criminal Offences Act, anyone who knowingly receives or possesses stolen property can face the same punishment as the original thief. This means Shatta Wale could potentially be charged with dishonestly receiving and possessing stolen goods, alongside other possible charges such as tax evasion.

Dankwah urged Shatta Wale’s fans to exercise patience, emphasizing that the case is serious and “there’s fire on Ghana from the USA” regarding the Lamborghini investigation. He reminded the public that even internationally renowned superstars like R. Kelly have been jailed in the USA, so Shatta Wale is not above the law.

He called on fans to allow the authorities to do their work without interference.

When asked if influential figures could intervene to stop the case, Dankwah expressed doubt, especially given the involvement of the FBI and the US Department of Justice. He also cautioned that attempts to interfere might lead to additional penalties, including travel bans.
