Rapper Sean Kingston Sentenced to 3.5 Years in Federal Prison for $1M Fraud Scheme

Rapper Sean Kingston, best known for hits like Beautiful Girls and Fire Burning, has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for his role in a million-dollar fraud scheme. Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, was convicted earlier this year alongside his mother, Janice Turner.

The duo was found guilty of wire fraud after using Kingston’s celebrity status to obtain luxury items—including high-end watches, a 232-inch LED TV, bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, and expensive furniture—by promising payment and then sending fake wire transfer receipts.

Prosecutors revealed that Kingston contacted victims through social media, lured them to his Florida homes with promises of exposure and celebrity referrals, but failed to pay for the goods. While some victims were eventually compensated after legal intervention, most suffered financial losses.

Before sentencing, Kingston apologized in court and expressed remorse. His mother, who played a key role in the scheme, was sentenced in July to five years in prison. Their arrests followed a 2024 raid on Kingston’s Fort Lauderdale home.
